SmugMug > all-time keyword > salmon > Day #2 of our experiment, and yet another departure from Weddings and Seniors. We love fall. The changing colors of the season, the cooling from the summer heat. Everything is preparing for a long, sometimes harsh, winter. It's our favorite time of the year! Albert Camus once wrote: "Autumn is a second spring, when every leaf is a flower". For us, it doesn't get any better than this. Around the Pacific Northwest, one of the amazing spectacles is the annual salmon migration where fish travel thousands of miles from the ocean, up the rivers and into their natal streams, literally within feet of their birthplace to spawn. This year was a profilic run when we had 3 of the 5 Pacific Salmon species in our rivers and streams at the same time. This simple montage shows 2 of the salmon types that make their epic journeys to our local rivers - Silvers and Pinks - not far from our home in Puyallup, WA. We love how the fins and the tails are protruding from the water. These fish lay their eggs in streams so shallow it doesn't even cover their backs. Its amazing everytime you see it. Mat
